Orientation Disability / Accommodation Requests

The Jaguar Nation Orientation & Welcome (N.O.W) program is committed to welcoming all new undergraduate students and their families. Participants who need assistance or accommodations to fully enjoy the Jaguar NOW program are encouraged to contact the Testing and Disability Services Office (TDS) and the office of Student Life & Engagement well in advance, as some accommodations take time to implement.

If you or a family member would like to request accommodations for disabilities and/or other health-related conditions/concerns, please contact us at least two weeks prior to your registered sessions in BOTH of the following ways:

  • Provide specific information in the appropriate fields when you register for orientation
  • Call (706-737-1610) or e-mail (orientation@augusta.edu) to confirm specific arrangements.

TESTING AND DISABILITY SERVICES (TDS)

Testing and Disability Services is the office of Disability Services at AU. Their mission is to provide accommodations, consultation, collaboration, and educational support services as a means to foster opportunities for empowerment of students with disabilities to participate in a barrier-free learning environment.

They serve as a resource to AU and the larger community to advocate for a diverse learning community, educational equity and innovation through the principles of Universal Design. For more information about students with disabilities, please visit the Testing and Disability Services website.


IF YOU HAVE A DISABILITY, WE SUGGEST THAT YOU:

Visit the Testing and Disability Services website or contact the Office.

Send documentation securely via mail (2500 Walton Way Galloway Hall Room 101 麻豆官网首页入口, GA 30904), e-mail (tds@augusta.edu), or fax (706-729-2298) to Testing and Disability Services if you have not already done so. Documentation Criteria is listed on their website.

As soon as you know the date of your Orientation session, call Testing and Disability Services at (706) 737-1469 or email tds@augusta.edu to schedule a time to meet with a Disability Services Providers to discuss arrangements. Please include your prospective major upon scheduling the appointment 


ELIGIBILITY FOR SERVICES

We provide assistance to students who have some type of impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activity. Examples of disabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Acquired Brain Injury
  • Hearing, visual, or physical impairments
  • Psychological disorders
  • Learning disability
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder

Students must register and request services from Testing and Disability Services. In order to receive services, students must provide current documentation of their disability from a qualified health professional. 

To schedule an appointment with a Disability Service Provider, email tds@augusta.edu or call (706) 737-1469. Please complete the  and send it in with any documentation supporting your diagnosis upon confirmation of your appointment.
