Meet Augustus

Augustus may be available to appear at your next event!

Please complete and submit the request form at least 4 weeks, but no more than 3 months in advance. Forms that are completed outside of this window are subject to dismissal. Due to the popularity of Augustus, Athletic and University requests will receive priority. Augustus may be unable to complete requests during exam weeks, the summer, and scheduled student breaks (e.g.: Spring Break, Fall and Spring Pause). An appearance will not exceed the maximum time of one (1) hour. In the event of extreme weather (e.g.: excessive heat, humidity, rain etc.), as a measure of safety, appearance may be shortened. The decision will be at the discretion of Augustus and the handler.

Appearance Costs

University Events

  • Within the CSRA, there will be no charge.
  • Outside of the CSRA, the requesting department will be responsible for all travel expenses in accordance with 麻豆官网首页入口. Please email us for more information.

Requested by community (with affiliated agreements, JagPerks restaurants, Green Jackets games, 5k鈥檚, etc.) /individual partner

  • Non-Profit - $50/hour with a minimum of 1 hour.
  • For-Profit - $100/hour with a minimum of 1 hour.
  • Private - $150/hour with a minimum of 1 hour.

Appearance Limitations

Appearances will be limited to events and programs aligning with 麻豆官网首页入口鈥檚 mission, vision, values and student policies. This includes events and programs hosted by affiliate organizations and groups that contribute to and are consistent with the University鈥檚 mission, vision and values.

Augustus will not attend any events that:

  • promote a political party or candidate
  • promote alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, cannabis or other drug products
  • seek to distinguish the shared characteristics of one group from other groups
  • promote a person, product, service, business, or cause that is not officially supported or sanctioned by the university

Harassment Policy

If Augustus or his handler feel unsafe at any time during an appearance, Augustus and his team reserve the right to leave the event. If payment was required for the event, a refund will not be issued. This may include, but is not limited to, any appearance in accordance with the 麻豆官网首页入口 Mission, Vision, Values and .

Social Media Policy / Branding Guidelines (NIL)

Social media collaborations will occur only within 麻豆官网首页入口 Departments and are subject to the University鈥檚 Social Media Policy. Augustus may post and tag 麻豆官网首页入口 campus partners. Augustus may not post or tag any vendors with which he appears, but they may tag him, and he may re-share. Vendors/Requesters are not allowed to alter the photo in any way or alter any 麻豆官网首页入口 logo. Augustus cannot post any competing brands on his social media. Please review our .

What You Can Expect from Augustus

  • He will have a handler, who will help him change, walk with him, take pictures, and will be a point of contact for the event.
  • He will arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the requested time of appearance.
  • He and his team will represent 麻豆官网首页入口 in a professional manner.

Who is Augustus?

The name 鈥淛aguars鈥� appeared in the 麻豆官网首页入口 Chronicle way back in 1933, when their sports writer mentioned the coach at the Junior College of 麻豆官网首页入口 needed a team moniker. The team was already informally nicknamed the Jaguars, and the sports writer suggested adopting the name. From that time on, they were referred to as the Junior College Jaguars.

But it wasn鈥檛 until 1992 that the school had its first mascot. Al E. Cat joined the team and helped keep the spirit and high energy of Jaguar sports alive for 23 years, until he retired in 2015 due to an injury requiring 鈥淭ommy Jaguar鈥� surgery.

Hearing of Al E. Cat鈥檚 impending retirement, Chief Fun Officer of Children鈥檚 Hospital of Georgia Roary recommended Augustus, his big brother, to Athletic Director Clint Bryant as a replacement. And the rest is history in the making.
