Contract Cancellation

Students wanting to cancel their housing contract must take one of the following actions based on the progress of their housing application:

  • If your housing application is incomplete and you have not paid the application fee, you must log back into the to cancel your application. No further action is needed at that time.
  • If your housing application is complete, you've paid the application fee and you've signed the contract, an official notice of cancellation is required. You'll need to fill out the Housing Cancellation Request in the portal in order to cancel your contract.
  • If you're canceling after move-in, you'll need to fill out the Housing Cancellation Request in the portal in order to cancel your contract. More information about possible cancellation fees can be found below in the section titled Cancellation Schedule, as well as in Exhibit B of your contract.

Cancellation FAQ

If I cancel and then change my mind, do I need to reapply?

Yes, if you cancel and then change your mind, you will need to start the process over. You will need to repay the pre-payment/deposit of $200. You do not need to repay the Housing Application Fee of $150 again.

If I cancel, will I get my application fee and/or pre-payment/deposit back?

No, the application fee is a one-time administration fee, and the pre-payment/deposit guarantees you a room in a residence hall. Neither of these are refundable if you cancel your contract.

If I cancel my housing, can I get a refund?

That depends on your contract and when you cancel. Please see the Cancellation Schedule below.

Log into the and complete the Cancellation Form and submit the form to Housing and Residence Life. The request may be completed at any time, but the effective date of your cancellation will be the date it is received in the portal.
