Chemical Safety Training

An important part of keeping personnel and work environments safe is to make sure that training is completed and maintained by all who need it.

  1. Chemical Inventory Database Training: Learn how to use the Chemical Inventory Database. The training course is divided into separate parts and is self-paced.*

  2. Mandatory Initial Chemical Safety Training

  3. Mandatory EHS Training : All labs and lab personnel need to complete specified training. For more information on required training please see the Environmental Health & Safety main training page.

  • - A one-page quick reference for updating inventories, generating waste pickup requests, and printing hazardous waste labels for the hazardous waste containers to be picked up.

Chemical Inventory Database Training

Module 1: Introduction to the Database

Purpose of training, access, passwords, main menu, navigation, and CSO contacts.

Module 2: How to update your Chemical Inventory

View, sort, preview/print reports, update your inventory, and add hazardous waste streams for satellite accumulation containers.

Module 4: Waste Pickup

How to request waste pickup, entering container details, and printing container labels.

Module 5: Reports

User requested specialized reports, access, navigation, and participation.

Module 6: Permit Worker Registration

How to request the addition of a new lab worker, database listing, navigation and data entry.

Module 7: Order From Chemical Stockroom

How to offer a chemical for exchange or request a chemical from the exchange list.

Module 8: Inventory Review Statement

Certify that your inventory has been reviewed and updated as required, and the date it was last done.

*We do not attempt to demonstrate the use of Windows components-dialog boxes, check boxes, pointers and cursors, list boxes and drop-down boxes. All these are common to Windows programs, and we have assumed that you understand how to use them. Please refer to your Windows documentation for basic Windows training, or select Windows Tutorial from the Program Manager's Help Menu.
