Teaching Assistant Application

The College of Education and Human Development at Âé¶¹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú is hiring teaching assistants (TAs) for the 2026 Kids University on June 1 – June 26, 2026. This youth summer program will be hosted in the University Hall of Âé¶¹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú. The TA pay rate is $14 per hour. 

Applications will open in February. 

Job Duties 

  • Supervise children during activities, meals, transitions, and throughout the camp.
  • Communicate positively and respectfully with children and their families.
  • Assist instructors in maximizing children's learning opportunities.
  • Comply with AU policies to create a safe and inclusive environment for all children.
  • Stay resilient and vigilant, providing support to one another.
  • Maintain a clean and organized space. 

 

Expectations 

We expect our teaching assistants (TAs) to exemplify professionalism and attentiveness while actively supporting the learning environment. They should demonstrate a positive attitude and effective communication skills and be adaptable to the dynamic nature of education. Punctuality, reliability, appropriate dress, teamwork, and passion for education are all essential qualities for this position. 

 

Work Schedule 

  • Morning Shift: 8:00 AM-1:00 PM
  • Afternoon Shift: 12:30 PM-5:30 PM 

 

Applicant Qualification 

  • Must be at least 18 years old and legally allowed to work in the U.S.
  • Must have a strong passion for working with children. 

 

Priority (Followed by Interview) 

  • 1st Priority - Current students in the College of Education Human Development at Âé¶¹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú University
  • 2nd Priority - Current students at Âé¶¹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú, but not in the College of Education Human Development
  • 3rd Priority - Not current students at Âé¶¹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú 

 

Declaration 

Kids University is a self-funded program and does not receive funding from the university. Thus, the employment of TAs at Kids University is not guaranteed. We plan to accept 7 TAs in the morning and 7 TAs in the afternoon. Based on enrollment, we will then make adjustments. If enrollment is low, we won’t be able to run the program or have to cut accepted applications. If enrollment is high, we will consider applications that are not accepted in the first round.
