Assistant Director Application

The College of Education and Human Development at Âé¶¹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú is hiring assistant directors for the 2026 Kids University, which will be held from June 1 to June 26, 2026, in the University Hall of Âé¶¹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú. The pay rate is $30 per hour.

Shift Options:

  • Morning: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  •  Afternoon: 12:30 PM - 5:30 PM

Position Overview

The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director (Dr. Kuo) to oversee the daily operations of Kids University. This includes supervising staff and children, ensuring a safe and positive environment, and managing program logistics. The Assistant Director will also play a key role in evaluating program effectiveness and planning the end-of-session graduation ceremony.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Supervision:

  •  Ensure the safety and well-being of children and staff during program hours.
  •  Provide direct supervision of children and manage behavior issues effectively.
  •  Support and guide instructional staff to deliver high-quality experiences.

2. Documentation and Communication:

  • Ensure that teachers document children’s weekly progress and prepare performance summaries to share with parents.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and children.

3. Program Evaluation:

  • Collect and analyze feedback from children and parents to assess course effectiveness.
  • Recommend improvements for future sessions based on feedback.

4. Environment:

  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere for all participants.
  • Promote positive interactions and relationships among staff and children.

5. Event Planning:

  • Organize and execute a graduation ceremony at the end of the program to celebrate participants’ achievements.

6. Support:

  • Address and resolve any logistical or programmatic issues.
  • Assist with program activities as needed.
  • Provide class coverage as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in EDLR 7351 or EDLR 7352 at Âé¶¹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú.
  • Currently hold a leadership position at the school or district level.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
  • Ability to be on-site daily (Monday-Friday) during the specified dates.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing circumstances.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to commit to being on-site daily, Monday through Friday, for the full duration of the program (four weeks, June 1-26, 2026).
  • May require occasional lifting of supplies or materials up to 25 pounds.

Declaration: Kids University is a self-funded program and does not receive funding from the university. Thus, the employment of assistant directors at Kids University is not guaranteed. If enrollment is low, we won't be able to run the program or have to cut accepted applications. If enrollment is high, we will consider applications that are not accepted in the first round.
