CANS 2023 Student Travel Awards

CANS offers travel awards for students attending the conference. These awards will partially cover travel expenses of deserving students who might otherwise be unable to attend the conference.

To apply for the travel award, a student needs to submit the following documents by email to etremel@augusta.edu and subject 鈥淐ANS-travel <applicant name>鈥 by October 30th:

  1. A one-page curriculum vita of the student. It may indicate if the student belongs to an underrepresented group.
  2. A one-page personal statement which will indicate the student鈥檚 research interests and how CANS will likely impact the student. It may indicate if this is their first-time attendance to CANS.
  3. A one-page supporting letter from the student鈥檚 advisor, which will indicate that the student is in good standing, and the potential benefits of attending CANS.

The selection criteria will be based on merit, the special circumstances of the students, and whether they attend for the first time.

All applications for the travel awards will be reviewed by the following panel:

  • Jing Deng, University of North Carolina at Greensboro
  • Edward Temel, 麻豆官网首页入口
  • Vlad Kolesnikov, Georgia Tech
  • Alex Schwarzmann, 麻豆官网首页入口

Funding is also available to support travel of students from US-based universities that plan to attend CANS but who do not have a paper to present. The funding comes from the National Science Foundation (NSF) that has awarded CANS 2023 a grant to partially support the travel needs of students.

The application process is the same for all students and the committee will determine the appropriate source of funding for each student. Women and students from underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
