Our department offers a dynamic curriculum and a variety of extracurricular activities to engage students further in their field of study. Participation in student-led clubs and organizations gives students opportunities to grow as leaders, to improve communication skills, and to meet people and network. Membership in clubs may also improve your work life balance.

Alpha Mu Gamma

Alpha Mu Gamma, The National Collegiate Foreign Language Honor Society, recognizes students' achievements in foreign language study.

The Iota Phi Chapter holds its annual initiation ceremony in late April for students with a 3.0 minimum overall GPA and who have achieved two grades of "A" in unrepeated college courses in one foreign language. The society also presents awards to the outstanding students for each year in French, German, and Spanish at the annual initiation ceremony. Alpha Mu Gamma is the largest national collegiate foreign language honor society and the first foreign language honor society established in the United States. It honors excellence in ALL languages so that it encompasses all foreign cultures and groups.

Sigma Tau Delta is the International English Honor Society, founded in 1924 to confer distinction for high achievement in the study of the English language and literature.

The Alpha Mu Eta Chapter at 麻豆官网首页入口 welcomes members who have demonstrated academic excellence in all fields of English. Members are eligible for national scholarships, awards, and internships; they can publish scholarly and creative writings in Sigma Tau Delta鈥檚 two international journals; and they can present their scholarly and creative work at the international convention. Our chapter is active in submitting papers to the international convention, and chapter members have presented at the conventions in St. Louis, New Orleans, Portland, and Savannah. 

Creative Writing Club

The purpose of this organization is to provide an outlet for the creative literary mind.

We host meetings, spoken word events, writing groups meetings, and yearly trips. The goal of the 麻豆官网首页入口 Creative Writing Club is to promote an enjoyable environment for writers of all types.

We aim to not only produce an enjoyable atmosphere, but to also produce better writers through our writing group and spoken word events.

English Club

The 麻豆官网首页入口 English Club is dedicated to fostering a love of literature in undergrads with a variety of events including book discussions, panel presentations, movie viewings, poetry readings, workshops, and field trips.

The English Club is also a great way to connect with English faculty and capitalize on their insight to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of literature in a casual setting. 

Le Cercle Fran莽ais

The 麻豆官网首页入口 French Club, Le Cercle Fran莽ais, brings students into contact with the French-speaking community at a bi-weekly French table.

Each year, Le Cercle Fran莽ais plans excursions to see theatre productions and museum exhibits in Atlanta, Georgia, and Columbia, South Carolina.

German Table

The German Table meets every other week during the semester for informal discussions in German.

The table is open to faculty, staff, students, and community members - everyone who knows German or is learning German.

Club de Espa帽ol

Club de Espa帽ol provides opportunities for students to practice Spanish and learn about culture.

The club sponsors conversation groups at local cafes and in the World Languages Hub in Allgood Hall N204.
