High School ROTC Scholarship

Four-Year and Three-Year Advanced Designees

The Department of Military Science accepts applications for two and three-year scholarships throughout the year. A student does not have to be currently enrolled in military science classes to apply for these two scholarship options.

This scholarship is awarded to high school seniors.  Competition for these scholarships is intense, as over 10,000 students from across the country compete for them. Scholarships pay for full tuition and mandatory fees, for both resident and non-resident students. You may elect to receive $5,000 per semester instead of receiving the tuition and fees money.  Scholarship awardees also receive a book allowance of $600 per semester (not including summer) and a monthly tax-free stipend of $420 to defray the cost of living. Interested students can apply at  after 1 February of their junior year in high school.

There are two types of high school scholarships: four-year and three-year advanced designee scholarships. Three-year Advanced Designee scholarship winners must satisfactorily participate in Army ROTC their freshmen year in order for their three year scholarship to take effect at the beginning of their sophomore year.
