Clinical Experience Block 2 

The PCL Clinical Experience includes: Telemedicine Patient Encounter Session, Clinical Procedures Session, and Ultrasound Session.

EVERYONE

  • Log into EPIC and ensure clinic is set up correctly-staff will check you off

Telemedicine Encounters (1:00 or 1:45 start) 

  • M1 students will be conducting the visit as M2 students advise
  • M1 interviewer complete the SOAP Presentation Debrief Qualtrics form with a faculty member during your debrief session
  • M2 recorder completes staff documentation feedback qualtrics

 Clinical Procedures (1:00 or 2:00 start) 

  • M2 Students will be reviewing vital sign assessment with their M1 mentees
  • Fill out the provided vitals sheet while discussing correct methods, possible errors, and masked vs white coat hypertension 

2:50 - 5:00PM

M1 Ultrasound Time 

*Everyone needs to consent for educationl scanning*

  • M1 students will be scanning the RUQ, LUQ, Subcostal 4 chamber, Pelvis
  • Students must send themselves the RUQ image to submit on the post-quiz in D2L

 

      

 

M2 Ultrasound Time 

*Everyone needs to consent for educationl scanning*

  • RUSH exam (FAST + AAA + GB)

Telemedicine - Patient Encounter

REFRESH

  • Review and that follows this template

PREWORK

EPIC

    • Select the 3rd/4th year template if prompted
    • Complete setup even if you are seeeing a SP. Staff will verify completion during PCE

REVIEW

  • Call 470-956-6000 with any EPIC issues

PREPARE

  • Review your patient's medical history and prepare for your telehealth visit
  • Ask M2 what should be addressed during the visit
  • Once EPIC access is obtained, review any additional patient information needed for the visit

WATCH BEFORE PCE

POSTWORK

  • Recorder must complete your patient's note by 5:00 PM the day after your patient encounter and send your note in a [SECURE] email to your M2 mentor and PCL Preceptor 
  • Interviewer team will review feedback on final note from recorders team
