Cardiovascular Research
Research studies are directed toward cardiac and vascular isorders including: heart failure, ischemia/reperfusion injury, systemic and pulmonary hypertension, and diabetes. Focal areas of investigation include mechanisms of vascular endothelial dysfunction, vascular fibrosis, mitochondrial dysfunction in cardiac myocytes and vascular cells, vascular smooth muscle phenotypes and circadian regulation of vascular function.
Neuroscience Research
The research of the department's faculty addresses fundamental gaps in knowledge relevant to the treatment of neurodegenerative and psychiatric illnesses such as: Parkinson鈥檚 Disease, Alzheimer鈥檚 Disease, Schizophrenia,post-traumatic stress disorder ADHDattention deficit hyperactivity disorder, PTSD and drug addiction.
Model systems and state-of-the-art experimental approaches assist graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and staff scientists research basic neurobiology and clinical neuropathology.
