Dr. Michael W. Groves joined the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery as Assistant Professor of General Otolaryngology and Associate Chief of Otolaryngology at the Charlie Norwood Veterans Affairs Medical Center in August 2011. He was appointed Residency Program Director in 2014 and served in that role for 6 years. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2019. Currently, Dr. Groves is the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education and Assistant Designated Institutional Official in the Medical College of Georgia’s Office of Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Groves earned his undergraduate degree at Harvard University and his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. As a general otolaryngologist with interests in many aspects of the field, Dr. Groves’ practice encompasses a wide spectrum of otolaryngology subspecialty domains. Most of his clinical work is focused on head and neck surgical oncology and salivary gland surgery including sialendoscopy. His research interests include various aspects of head and neck cancer care and resident education.
