Student Research Program

The Student Research Program (SRP) is an initiative funded by the 麻豆官网首页入口 Provost office, intended to encourage outstanding research, scholarship, and creative activities by AU Students.

This program funds up to twenty $1,000 vouchers annually for meritorious student activities.

The program is open to all full-time students who are working with an AU faculty mentor on the Summerville campus or Health Sciences Campus, in any type of research.  Students from all schools and programs within AU are encouraged to apply.

Note: SRP funding is NOT limited to math, science, engineering, or health research.  Meritorious activities from student-mentor pairs from the liberal arts are encouraged to apply.  The program is committed to supporting scholarly activity in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.  If you have questions about how your work might "fit" the mission of the SRP, please contact AU_SRP@augusta.edu , and someone will be happy to assist.

Funds may be used for a variety of project costs, including supplies, information discovery, lab fees, conference, presentation, or performance costs, travel related to the project, and other expenses relevant to the work.

To begin, each student must request a studio.  A studio is a 30 minute meeting between the student-mentor pair and members of the Translational Research Program working group.  The review committee will be comprised of faculty and research staff.   The studio is intended to provide constructive feedback on the nature of the project as well as give the committee a broad overview on how voucher monies will be spent. The studio committee will also be interested in anticipated deliverables resulting from the support.

Both student and mentor must meet with the committee at the 麻豆官网首页入口 Health Sciences Campus for the studio; if not, the meeting will be canceled, and the application will be rejected.

Vital Facts

  • Twenty vouchers of up to $1,000 will be available to AU student-mentor pairs engaged in meritorious research from any college
  • The application window for the 2025-2026 academic year will open on August 29, 2025 and close on October 20, 2025.
  • All full time AU graduate or undergraduate students working with a full time AU faculty mentor on the Summerville or Health Science campus are eligible.
  • Future deliverables from the project are strongly encouraged: including plans for publication, presentation, performance, attendance of legitimate conferences, apprenticeships, internships or otherwise discipline-specific metrics for scholarship
  • Projects funded to specific student-mentor pairs in previous funding cycles may be continued (with the same or different student-mentor pair), however a progress report (including articulating how the previous funds were spent) will be required prior to consideration of the proposal. Continuation projects for the same student-mentor pair (with a different project) will be treated similarly.
Please note: Priority will be given to new projects, but if funding allows, we will entertain continuing projects.
  • It is generally expected that the funds be used by the end of the fiscal year (or academic year). For instance, a studio that was presented in Oct 2017, who received funds in Jan 2018, should make every effort to use those funds by the end of June 2018.
  • If the student presenting the project is unable to continue education at AU prior to the funds being awarded, the project will be disqualified.
  • Funds  cannot be used for courtesy food costs, such as buying lunches for study participants.
