Family and Community Medicine Center
The heart of the residency program is the Family and Community Medicine Center (FCMC),
the largest single entity of comprehensive primary care services at 麻豆官网首页入口
University, where residents learn and refine their clinical and procedural skills
for the care of patients and their families.
Recognized by the as a Patient-Centered Medical Home, faculty and resident providers deliver complex
comprehensive care in approximately 38,000 patient visits per year with various levels
of acuity and multiple co-morbidities. Multiple ancillary services are available to
patients in the center, including pulmonary function testing, colonoscopies, colposcopies,
skin biopsies, acupuncture, and osteopathic manipulative treatment.
The FCMCFamily and Community Medicine Center also has its own fully integrated research section which provides IRBInstitutional Review Board services, data collection, and statistical support for scholarly activities, research
projects, and publications.
The Family and Community Medicine Center is in the process of transforming clinical
activities to incorporate patient-and family-centered care concepts in the context
of a patient-centered medical home. This practice transformation will ensure quality
assessment and improvement by applying measureable evidence-based medicine in individual
and practice-based population health and disease management.
