Composition
The MCG Faculty Senate recognized the need to address community engagement within
the College and has established the MCG Community Engagement Committee (CE). The
CE membership should be both reflective of the MCG faculty and the broader community
that MCG and Wellstar MCG Health serve.
Function
The CE serves to promote community engagement for MCG faculty, staff and advanced
provider practitioners on each of its campuses and provide resources related to gainful
employment (recruitment, hiring, retention), leadership positions (career advancement),
and financial reimbursement (salaries).
The CE should align its recommendations and any actions impacting the community engagement
of MCG learners and/or learning environments with the accreditation standards of the
Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME, for residents & fellows),
Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME, for medical students).
The CE shall also support coordinated, systematic, and sustained efforts at AU and
Wellstar MCG Health to assess and promote community engagement as well as to promote
positive psychological well-being for all university and health system faculty.
