Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate course will prepare a student to
become a certified healthcare provider that is trained to treat and transport victims of emergencies.
Our course includes the following skills to teach students how to provide basic life
support to patients:
- Immobilization and splinting
- Bandaging
- Administering oxygen
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation – healthcare provider
- Defibrillation
- Extrication
- Administering medications
- Airway management
Upon completion of the course, students will be prepared to provide basic emergency
medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients entering into the
emergency medical system. Successful completion of the program allows the student
to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians EMT certification examination
and apply for Georgia licensure as an EMT.
Prerequisites:
- High school or General Education Development diploma
- Valid state driver license and social security number
- Pass a Criminal Background check
- Proof of immunizations
- Successfully pass a drug screen
