MCG Program Preparation in the State of Georgia

The Medical College of Georgia is fully accredited by the  (LCME) that maintains accreditation standards for all U.S. educational programs that culminate in the MD degree. As such, the curriculum meets the educational eligibility criteria as a medical doctor in Georgia.

^{Physicians with the MD degree are required to pass the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).  The USMLE is a three-step examination.  The first two national exams (Step 1 and Step 2) must be taken and passed while in our MD program as a requirement for graduation.  Passing Step 1 and Step 2 typically are required for entry to most medical doctor residency programs within the U.S. The third exam (Step 3), normally is taken while in residency training, approximately one year after graduation from the MD program. This third exam is used for state licensure as a physician and provides the physician with the sanction to practice as a physician in that state.}

MCG Program Preparation in Other U.S. States

At this time, the MCG MD curriculum meets the educational eligibility criteria as a medical doctor in all of the states in the U.S. plus Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the US Pacific territories of American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

MCG Program Preparation Outside the United States

This disclosure does not address program eligibility in countries outside the United States. We are unable to determine whether or not the above-named degree program meets the educational requirements for graduates to be eligible to apply for licensure or certification outside the United States. Again, it is important to become educated on the credentialing requirements in the location in which you hope to practice.
